Miakoda New York

Miakoda was founded in 2012 by sisters Julia and Laura Ahrens to fulfill their own needs for high end, eco-friendly, and cruelty-free clothing. As they began incorporating a dedicated yoga practice into their lives, the principle of ahimsa; the practice of nonviolence and compassion towards all living things, began to guide their moral conduct.  

After learning about the detrimental effects of the fashion industry, they decided to make a switch to organic, plant-based fashion that was manufactured in ethical facilities. However, they found it difficult to find clothing that they wanted to wear but was eco-friendly and cruelty-free. This inspired them to start a collection of quality, high end, ethical and sustainable clothing. 

All garments are manufactured in small factories in Manhattan and Brooklyn, NY using sustainable textiles.
